A "Must Read" for Liberals

I didn't write this. KB sent it to me. It's been circulating on the internet and was too good not to post.

What was my mother thinking?

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning. My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter AND I used to eat it raw sometimes too, our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag not in icepack coolers, but I can't remember getting e-coli?

Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then.

The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.
We all took gym, not PE... and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors.
I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now. Flunking gym was not an option... even for stupid kids! I guess PE must be much harder than gym. Every year, someone taught the whole school a lesson [and provided comic relief] by running in the halls with leather soles on linoleum tile and hitting the wet spot. How much better off would we be today if we only knew we could have sued the school system.

Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention. We must have had horribly damaged psyches. I can't understand it. Schools didn't offer 14 year olds an abortion or condoms (we wouldn't have known what either was anyway) but they did give us a couple of baby aspirin and cough syrup if we started getting the sniffles. What an archaic health system we had then. Remember school nurses? Ours wore a hat and everything.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself. I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations. I must be repressing that memory as I try to rationalize through the denial of the dangers could have befallen us as we trekked off each day about a mile down the road to some guy's vacant lot, built forts out of branches and pieces of plywood, made trails, and fought over who got to be the Lone Ranger. What was that property owner thinking, letting us play on that lot? He should have been locked up for not putting up a fence around the property, complete with a self-closing gate and an infrared intruder alarm. Oh yeah... and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played king of the hill on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites and when we go
t hurt, Mom pulled out the 48 cent bottle of Mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked. Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat. We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either because if we did, we got our butt spanked (physical abuse) here too and then we got butt spanked again when we got home. Mom invited the door to door salesman inside for coffee, kids choked down the dust from the gravel driveway while playing with Tonka trucks (Remember why Tonka trucks were made tough .. it wasn't so that they could take the rough Berber in the family room), and Dad drove a car with leaded gas. Our music had to be left inside when we went out to play and I am sure that I nearly exhausted my imagination a couple of times when we went on two week vacations. I should probably sue the folks now for the danger they put us in when we all slept in campgrounds in the family tent.

Summers were spent behind the push lawn mower and I didn't even know that mowers came with motors until I was 13 and we got one without an automatic blade-stop or an auto-drive. How sick were my parents? Of course my parents weren't the only psychos. I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house. Instead she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck. To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that? We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes? We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac! How did we ever survive?

Marc: Can't take credit for writing the article, wished I could. Spoke a lot of truth didn't it. There's tons of these type articles floating around the internet.

It's amazing how much we've lost as a country in such a short time. The Left rants so much about "protecting civil liberties", but now we're a bunch of handwringing, scared of our own shadows, sue happy, couch potatoes. What a great life. Think of the civil liberties we've lost. But....the upside is....we've learned how to be "politically correct" in a crowd. Some call that progress!

Marc: Did you catch the invasion of the Liberals into Red State territory in the "Outing Red America from the Inside" post on the blog? Tim Schilke the author of "Growing Up Red", was testing his "how to change a Red-Stater's mind with FACTS." Tim and his Blue-Stater Gang believes Red-Staters are going to destroy the United States of America. That we're going to turn it into something heinously evil whereby they may have to move to Canada or Cuba, which ever is closest for them. If they only new that was our real plan....getting them to move.

How do we get back there?!

Clint: We start by saying "No" to the Far Left and exposing them for what they are: Extremist in thought and action. But more importantly, incouraging centrist Democrats to step forward and take their party back from the George Soros/Howard Dean/ Hollywood crowd. Our democracy thrives on a two-party system, but each party must bring "common sense solutions" to our problems. The Democratic party under the influence of extreme Left handlers is leading a legitimate party of the "working man" into an abyss. Main Stream Americans can not take them seriously anymore. It's one thing to "dissent" with America's "best interest at heart", but quite another to dissent out of wicked spite and a virulent form of "Liberal hysteria."

Example: On August 1, 2004 Tom Ridge warned of possible terror attacks against "iconic" US buildings-significant institutions that relate to our leadership role in the international economy. Officials said that within the prior 36 to 72 hours they had received evidence-later attributed to the capture of three terror suspects in Pakistan-of meticulous planning in "excruciating detail" indicative of al-Qaida.

The news came at a politically charged time, after the Democratic Party's presidential convention and before the Republicans.

The Far Left thought the White House was using the "terrorist card" to thwart Kerry's momentum and gain advantage in the presidential campaign.

So Howard Dean, Far Left intellect as he his perceived by his supporters, said, "I am concerned that every time something happens that's not good for President Bush, he plays this trump card, which is terrorism. The administration is manipulating the release of information in order to affect the president's campaign."

Every Far Left/Democratic Talking Head hit the airwaves and repeated the accusation.

After the November election the story went cold-until Tuesday. A federal indictment accuses three men, one of them alleged to be a senior a-Qaida figure, with plotting attacks against US financial buildings. The three, now in custody in England are facing terrorism-related charges here.

Suddenly the Far Left is as quiet as a church mouse. And I am furious! The Far Left is so blinded by their hate for George Bush, they gambled with national security. A major issue of their own damn platform! This is not a "healthy party". It's an obstructionist party in the truest sense of the word.

Re-read the article, "What was my mother thinking" and concentrate on what we've lost as a culture. Each loss can be directly attributed to "Liberal policies" in some form or another.

The author of that article was remembering a time when good common sense Democrats , the kind that weren't afraid to get their fingernails dirty or let their kids play outside were the equalizers of American politics. Those good men and women were the backbone of our country, and now they've become the handwringers of a fear-based society because they've allowed themselves to be led around by the nose by the Far Left.

Conservatives have tried to pick up the slack where the Democrats left off. But in order to return to a time the author speaks about, indeed, to return to a time when there was actual "joy in living", it's going to take two parties working together to correct an "out of order" society. If the party of Howard Dean and George Soros gain momentum we can be assured of losing even more "rights" that make living worthwhile! Like they say, "You don't know what you've lost until it's gone."

Stand by Pam...in a day or so I will post a similar article to "What was my mother thinking" that I am writing about "moral values", how we got them and why they worked for society. P.S. I checked out your blog....excellent!

Have you all been watching the news about the 5 year old being handcuffed in Florida? While I think this may be viewed as extreme by many, I see it as a positive message that parents need to be held responsible.

The news story said the parents were suing because child was traumatized (good! Maybe she will get the message that her behavior was unacceptable!) If I were the parents of the other children in the classroom, I would sue the parents of the 5 year old for traumatizing my child with her behavior, which lead to the handcuffing.

In my early school days (the 60s) behavior like that would have gotten me a trip to the principal's office (where they kept the paddle), a call to my parents (who would have, no doubt, spanked me to get the message across that my behavior was unacceptable - like any of us would have dared to act like that!!) and would have been followed up with a public apology to the teacher and other students, prior to being allowed back into the classroom.

Parents have a real opportunity here to fight for order in our schools again. We might actually have an opportunity to get back some of what we lost!
