I'm re-grouping efforts in the work to get Route 15 funded and completed in a "timely" manner. The Town of Lindley was "sucker punched" last night at the Board meeting. NYSDOT sent an emissary to deliver bombshell bad news on the status of the Route 15 project. Welcome to the world of bureaucrats.
When I get half a minute I'll relate what happened at the Board meeting last night. This fight ain't over yet!

Anxious to hear about the bombshell. When will NYS
start? Looks like Pa will be knocking on our door any day.
Sal told me all about the meeting and I think once Sal can present the information on the blog and everyone has a chance to digest it, we need to make a unified effort to hold some feet to the fire.
We'll see...
Why do we get the feeling that there has been a screw up on Rt.15 construction?
Hang in there....I'm still "working the problem"....
Those who attended the meetings at the school in Tioga Junction knew the funds for the completion of Rt. 15 were not available except for the first mile into New York. We also knew that there was no guarantee when funds would become available. Because the project has not been engineered there will be no funds from the bond act until that is complete. What very well could happen is that some of the money in th efund could be let loose to do the engineering in 2006. That is what the Hornell DOT is hoping for. In any event there probably won't be any construction started for another 5 years. In addition there will be a detour, for a limited time, the town was told, that will come down Khul Rd. and up Watson Creek to a point near the Green Shingles. This will allow for the tieing in of the new 15 to the old 15. What really rankles some is that this detour will go by their homes and they aren't happy about having all the traffic traveling this roadway. This detour route was news to the town. No one knew about it until the recent board meeting. I think it is too soon to be saying the town was hoodwinked when there were never any promises that in fact Rt. 15 would be completed before the end of this decade. I find it interesting that a special planning board meeting minutes were posted the next day and no town board minutes have been posted and it has been almost a week. Who is holding up that posting?
maybe the open door policy of letting people know what is going on at the town hall is over now that the election is over. seems like there has been enough time to post the minutes of the last town board meeting so that not a select few that sally wishes to let in on what is going on are the only ones to know. maybe her chosen few are all she thinks she needs to let know what is going on.I guess for sure the election is over and we the people are not needed now until it is time for reelection Sad very Sad.Maybe kathy b will let us know for she is in the click of knowing the towns buisness.
Sally didn't take the minutes!!!!!! Let's give Dee the town clerk a chance to type them up before we howl accusations. She may have had other more pressing things to do to do in her job. Don't forget, the office is closed the day following the TB meeting. Don't believe the Sec of planning board is a working lady-maybe she has more time on her hands than Dee does who also has a family to take care of when she is not at the town hall. If I am correct-Dee has 2 weeks to get minutes typed. This is the first time the Planning Board minutes have been posted so soon. Wonder why!!!!!!
Dee does a good and I see no reason to start complaining about her work. Why are you so anxious to see these TB minutes-. they are not usually posted until a week or so later.
Keep your pants on. I'm working with NYSDOT and the politicians to get you guys the "right information".
Better to have the correct info-BUT Yes,we who have attended the meetings on Rt. 15 ,knew that NYS was still dragging it's feet in getting the money. But at the Board meeting facts came out-not just about the detour- that left many of us feeling discouraged and disallusioned about how the wheels of DOT operate.
We did learn that they have plans in the making for a detour. We,also, know plans for finishing Rt.15 53 years ago when the present highway was built were scrapped so Penna. could do their thing. Penna is doing it's thing and NYS isn't doing their part to finish the other 5 miles even though at the KUHL ROAD CONFERENCE -those who were there got the impression that if the BOND Resolution was passed NYS would finally have the money.Yet they can spend money to design a detour that would not be needed if they dug up the old plans and finished the whole nine yards before more of our citizens meet an untimely death on Death Highway NYS Rt. 15 S. It would seem to us who have been with this thing for years that the logical thing would be to get the darn thing finished and be done with it.
Logic doesn't seem to be a word that DOT knows: So when Sally gets the facts-don't be surprised to hear what she tells you.
Anonymous: Please give me the details of the "Kuhl Road Conference": When did this "conference occur and what was said at it.
My interrpretation of all the dignataries meeting and all the speeches and propaganda given when make the " believe check" was presented.
Understand....
I agree Dee does a super job.Wouldn't it be nice if the Town got her something to make taking the minutes a little easier on her. Every meeting I have attended she takes all notes by hand. I think shorthand, then has to rewrite them to post at a later date.:) Gives me cramps in hand just watching!
I wonder what the real reason is that NYS does not want to finish RT15? There is something there that no one knows. Governor Ridge is a real man of his word. He said Rt 15 was going to be done to the Pa/NY line without delays. He is the first politican I have seen that is a man of his word. Remember all these things when election time rolls around again. It will be another 53 years before that small section of RT 15 is finished. Maybe in that length of time someone of importance or their family member will be killed and then we may see some action.
Sally, Is it really necessary to post some of these negative, back-biting comments on the blog? I get tired of reading them and don't read them anymore. It definitely makes the people of this town look bad in blog eyes!
If you want to bury your head in the sand that's okay with the rest of us. Sometimes, the truth hurts-but is good to get things out in the open.

.....than I understand your concern. However, as most negative comments are directed to me on the blog and I can handle them, then maybe you can too. I am confident the good citizens of Lindley who read this blog will put the sometimes meanspirited comments into perspective. Do the nasty comments make us look bad? In some ways they do, but every town across this great land has people who actually thrive on poking someone in the eye. We are not unique in this respect.

You lost me on your entire comment. First of all, Sal does not become Town Supervisor until January 1, 2006, so I am not sure how she would be impacting whether the minutes are done or not.
Secondly, I had stopped by the evening of the meeting to see Sal about a completely unrelated issue and she talked to me about what had happened at the meeting. For the record, what is happening on Rt. 15 is not just Town business, it is state and federal business as well.
Lastly, Sal was working on getting all the facts together, and she said so, before she posted anything to insure that she was posting accurate information. I know I don't need to speak for her but it makes me crazy when people post negative garbage that has no basis in reality.
To the person with comments about the negative opinions-Is someone twisting your arm to read the blog?I bet you are just nosey like the rest of the readers and want to know what is happening. If someone has a negative comment, it just goes to show you we don't all beat to the same drummer or whatever the saying is. Thank God. Supposedly, that is a fundemental of democracy. Like you mentioned-if it bothers you-don't read it-but don't be complaining just because someone says something you don't agree with.Apparently, Lindley still has some
"free thinkers" and that is good. Maybe too long, we have taken our local politics and politicians for granted.
