Steuben County Sex Offenders
HOMOSASSA, FL (AP) -- A registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history confessed Friday to killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, who went missing from her Florida home more than three weeks ago, officials said. John Evander Couey admitted abducting and killing Jessica, who had disappeared from her home on Feb. 23, Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said. Deputies Friday blocked off an area near the home of Couey's half-sister, about 150 yards from where Jessica lived with her father and grandparents.

The offender has been assigned a risk level of 3, which means the risk to the community is high. Under the law, Police may disseminate relevant information which may include the sex offender's name, exact address, address of the offender's place of employment, a photo of offender, background information including the offender's crime of conviction, modus of operation, type of victim targeted, name and address of any institution of higher education at which sex offender is enrolled, attending, employed or residing at and the description of special conditions imposed on the offender to any entity with vulnerable populations related to the nature of the offense committed by such sex offender.
These are ONLY Steuben County Sheriff's Level 3 Sex Offenders, the local Police Departments in this county, have their own lists.

I spoke with Lt. Swan today and he said the Corning Police Department was currently building a website and he hoped it would be on-line in the coming months. However, in the meantime, Lt. Swan is giving me a list of Corning sex offenders sometime after Monday. I will post them immediately. Hopefully, when the department finishes their website, we can then put a face to the names. I heard today that there are 500,000 registered sex offenders in the US. That's astonishing!
Unfortunately, Lt. Swan was home today feeling under the weather so I didn't get the list of sex offenders who live in the Corning area. I'll catch up with him when he's feeling better. I did, however, contact the Addison and Painted Post police departments and they will send me lists of Level Three and Level Two sex offenders who live in their areas of jurisdiction. I'll also contact the Lawrenceville police department to get their list. I'm learning a lot about sex offenders and the law. When I get the lists I'll share what I know. It ain't good!
Spoke with Lt. Swan tonight. Will be picking up Corning's list of Level Three and Level Two sex offenders list tomorrow after 6 p.m. Hopefully will have Addison's list before the week is out. Currently working on Lawrenceville's and Elmira's. Why Elmira? Sex offenders often travel outside their areas to offend.
