Just returned from a morning walk along one of our beautiful country roads. The trash that people throw out the window is alarming. Every day ther are at least two or three cans, cups and food wrappers from fast food eateries strewn along the side of the road. It can't be all local folks but no matter it is a blight on the countyside. I guess it is the lack of pride and sensitivity that lets people litter the county. I sure don't have a solution other than to pick up the trash that I can and dispose of it properly. Any thoughts out there on this one?
Littering is a problem again. The state needs to re-activate its anti-littering campaign and threaten to fine them to get people to stop throwing their trash along our beautiful country roads and main roads.
Trash begets trash-so keep up the good job of picking up after slops who could care less where they toss it. Look for labels and addresses. If you find something incriminating- call the authorities. Meantime, enjoy our green spaces. Did you know the Marine Div. that used to collect along Rt. 15 -will no longer do it. Most are too old and declare it is too dangerous for the "Marines" How about that??
Here is another thought, the reason so many of our county roads are going to pot is because of the county's policy to clear down to the blacktop. Take a good look at the edges of the roads, you will find backtop pushed into the grass from plowing bare roads. We need to get the county to take a careful look at this policy, it is our tax dollars that are being plowed up! Already the remaing top is cracked and will be plowed off this winter on many of the roads.
