Thanks for the reminder of the reason I moved from Lindley to the Golden state of California almost 40 years ago. SNOW, you can have it!!!

Well...I'm sitting here wearing "three layers of clothes" and a cat on my lap to stay warm. My gas bills were outrageous EVEN after we burned wood 24/7. Do you have an extra room in California?

It's raining right now, but it's 60 degrees with the overnight low expected to be 53 degrees. I haven't worn any jacket heavier than a windbreaker in years. I feel for all the residents there this time of year because of their utility bills. Hope you stay warm and yes, I do have extra room.

California sounds good to me too!But I fear our cold weather is far from over.I had forgotten about the storm in this article. So I guess we should feel lucky if we dont get a repeat of that storm this year.

I can remember when snow would fall the week of Christmas and keep coming until the end of March. The ground was continuously covered with snow. As kids we were sledding most of the winter. I haven't seen a kid sledding down hill in years.

Sally: The next time it snaws, come out to the trailer site om Clendenning Road. The kids there use the hill for sledding (sliding). You know too, that sleds are passe. Stiff plastic sheets are the mode of sliding down the hill there. I think they even achieve faster speeds than we did on sleds. They look like they are having fun.

Strange that we only missed the big storm in this story by 1 day with the largest snowfall so far this winter.Well at least there is plenty of snow for riding sleds. :)

Seems that Sally doesn't want the truth about certain presentations known. Truth is Dick Johnson did not gather the information for his presentation, Jake Gross did and Sally is doing her best to discredit him in every way. Voters, beware, your elected councilmen are being censored and denied the right to speak the truth. You can be sure this post will also be deleted as the truth must be kept from the public. So much changing the good ole boys way of governing.

Okay anonymous…

Fact Number One: Jake gathered information that Dick and I already knew. All Jake ever had to do was pick up the phone and ask Dick himself. But he didn’t. He went behind Dick’s back and called Hornell and learned that yes indeed, 40+ thousand dollars of the CHIPS money would be rolled over from last year to this year (2006). Again, all Jake ever had to do was just ask Dick.

Fact Number Two: Regarding the Multi-Model #3 grant from the state. I had spoken with NYS Senator George Winner’s office about the status of the $25,000 grant BEFORE I asked Jake to “get the details” of the grant. Dan Farrand, George Winner’s assistant, had already told me that the grant was still available but I wasn’t sure if there were any restrictions concerning how the money was to be spent. I asked Jake to be the “contact person” to “get the details” which he did.

Fact Number Three: Dick made the presentation simply because the information fell into his jurisdiction as Highway Superintendent.

Now anonymous, why you were compelled to write such a wretched comment over this matter is beyond me. What did you hope to gain by popping me in the nose? Political advantage? Trust me. You didn’t gain any. No one that I know appreciates your way of “debating”. It’s petty. It’s meanspirited and very misguided. The three other members on the Council that sit with me are representing this Town in the spirit of cooperation. They have offered me support and good counsel through some very troubled times. I have literally spent hours talking with each of the three on issues important to them and the policies we’d like to develop. I absolutely value their input. To say I am censoring them and denying them the right to speak the truth is absolutely ridiculous.

I deleted your first comment not to “keep the truth from the public” but because your intent was to harm another and I am, quite frankly, fed up with it. Some of us were having a simple conversation about snow storms and sledding when you interjected your venom thinking you could gain points for Jake. I’m putting you on notice that I will delete every comment you and others make that is written with malicious intent. So you might want to think long and hard about the words you choose.

It seems there are two ways of thinking in Lindley, Ms.Orr's way and the wrong way.

the blog serves a nice community service .it is too bad that a few have to spoil it by being so negative.
maybe they should start their own blog where they can express their views and not annoy the ones who like to read this.

Paul These people may have their opinions, but do they have to be so nasty and negative in their remarks.

No they don't have to be nasty, but peolpe do need a place to vent and not all critism is constructive.

Also this is politic's and its not the cleanest sport.

well- they are certainly revealing their true characteristics and giving lindley a blackeye at the same time. can't imagine the impression that the readers sally has listed receive when they read the nasty comments.
sounds as if someone got the short end of the straw somewhere along the line and now they need to share their misery.

Hey Paul: I couldn't agree more that people in Lindley have the right to express opinions. That's one of the reasons I created the blog for them. We were sailing along fine on the blog until some got extra mean and dirty. You know me, I'm up for any kind of political debate and we've had some dandies here on the blog. But this is not the place for meanspirited, petty, misguided comments that only serve to hurt another's integrity. Calling me a liar or anyone else for that matter is unwarranted. It's unethical and does not contribute to a healthy dialogue. Most every blog administrator has to deal with petty comments at some point or another. Especially the blogs that are well read. I have hundreds of people who read this blog every week from all over the country. I have an ethical responsibility to keep it clean. Those who tune into the blog love the sometimes rough and tumble debates, but they have assured me that they do not like the petty stuff. So I will continue to monitor the comments to hold my commenters to a higher standard. The only ones complaining are those who want to play too dirty. Those are the ones I'll delete.

Wow this conversation over the weather in this article seems to have really strayed from the point of the article! Never the less my Mom who is a winter Texan said the robins have came to her campsite. For the last 7 years the birds and the weather seem to arrive here 4 to 5 weeks later. So I am keeping fingers crossed that winter is on the way out and spring on the way in.

Sure sign of spring . Pussy Willows are out. Wonder how the sap is running for maple syrup?

I don't think the sap will be running till later this week, it usually has to be up to 40's during the day and then cold at night, I always keep an eye on back River Road along the Ballard's for their sap buckets. They should be showing up soon.

When I was a kid we would tap the four sugar maples in our front yard and get gallons of sap. Then my Mom would boil the sap down and we'd get a pint of maple syrup if that much. You know how impatient kids are, so you can imagine how "antsy" we were waiting for the sap to turn to syrup. Just as soon as it turned a golden brown and was thick and sweet enough, Mom would make her homemade pancakes and we'd gorge ourselves on the treat. I can remember one time it was late at night when it was ready. That was one of the finest "midnight snacks" ever.

I am not sure how its running but I have seen it being collected for a couple of weeks from the sugar maples on the corner of Manley road.

I wish we had a little bit of your snow here!. We didn't have much a winter here. The flowers are already starting to poke through. With the mild weather coming this weekend, they'll be busting out all over!!
