regarding doe permits- here is the internet link - you probably will need to copy and paste it.

http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/dfwmr/license/decalsproc.html

According to the webpage, our area is not one of the zones affected.

"Deer Management Permits

Notice: The overall number of Deer Management Permits (DMPs) has been substantially decreased this year. No DMPs will be issued, and therefore, you cannot apply for a DMP, in the following Wildlife Management Units:

3A,3H,3K,4O,4P,4R,4W,4X,5A,5C,5F,5G,5H,5J,5N,6F,6J,6N,7A,7M

Be sure to check DMP Selection Process and Probabilities in the WMU prior to purchasing your license. Once you complete the DMP application process no changes will be allowed."

Yes,I sometimes read the Blog, for DMP (Doe Permits)I have a list where they are available, but you are right 8x & 8y are very slim, of people receiving permits,if you are a landowner(resident),they have been recieving one permit,& someone landowners have been turned down,Also most of non-resident have been turned down this year. It is a lottery, on how the Doe permits are issued.& October 1st is the last day to receive permits. There is a date November 1st,which is first come first serve.Which you can try for a Doe permit, if you didn't receive one the first time or even try for a second one if you you were lucky to get one the first time .I'll be in the Town Hall my Regular hours for that day which is Tuesday.Thank You Kathy for your help with the information on the Doe Permits.
