Hi Sally - This week's History lesson

This is a postcard donated by Mrs. Austin . Note it was before the trees were cut . Verna tells me they had the postcards made in late 1950's or early 1960's when they ran their grocery store at the corner of Morgan Creek Road and US Rt 15. Travelers admired the Church setting and would ask for a postcard. Thus they had some made.

The Austins bought Lee Buckley's store at the end of the Lindley bridge in 1951. In 1953, they built the building where she lives now and moved the store there when the "new" road opened So our new road is now 52 years old and as we all know is antiquated for the present amount of traffic.
Let's hope all our residents get out to vote Tuesday November 8th in favor of the Transportation Bond so Lindley's section of Rt. 15 doesn't have to be called DEATH HIGHWAY any longer.
